Smart phones have come a long way. But the smartest phone any of us ever had wasn’t made by Apple or Samsung or Google. The smartest phone any of us ever had was also the first phone any of us ever had: the Fisher-Price Chatter Phone. It taught us numbers. It taught us colors. It taught us fine motor skills. So what better way to take adults back to the world of childhood than by reintroducing them to their first and smartest phone…but now, as a real phone that can call the world of adulthood.
This project took over 2 years to execute. There was R&D. There was a debate about Bluetooth vs. cellular. There were horrifying moments where we dissected the Chatter Phone while it was looking at us with its knowing plastic eyes. But in the end, it was all worth it. Bluetooth enabled Chatter Phones went on sale at Best Buy…and completely sold out in 12 hours.
