Fisher-Price | Instagram Toy Museum

In 2020, Fisher-Price celebrated its 90th birthday. It felt like the perfect time to showcase their rich history and all of the iconic toys that have touched so many lives over the past 9 decades. And what better way to do that than with a Fisher-Price toy museum! The only problem? In 2020, museums weren’t really a thing. But that didn’t stop Fisher-Price.

With the help of the talented, indomitable forces that are Leila Fakouri and Vacation Theory, we fabricated nearly 100 “exhibits” featuring Fisher-Price toys, spanning 90 years of childhood. From there, we built an entire museum experience that lives exclusively on Instagram. After months and months of late nights and Zoom shoots and many gallons of paint and glue, The Fisher-Price Toy Museum was officially open for business. It’s a museum that never closes, admission is free and membership requires nothing more than a click of the follow button.

Each exhibit was created with both the toy’s aesthetic and the decade in which it was released in mind. Here are a few of my personal favorites.

And of course, what is a museum without a gift shop? The talented designers at WK got to work designing merch based off of the exhibits.

The museum opened to rave reviews. It was written up in publications around the world and was mentioned on SNL Weekend Update at the end of its opening week. Almost every person on Earth has had some sort of connection with a Fisher-Price toy. The Toy Museum was a fun way to celebrate Fisher-Price’s legacy while reconnecting people with their own childhoods.
